Metro Phoenix's premier haunted spots like Fear Farm, Mill of Madness, and Sanctum of Horror are serving up scares till the end of October. But it’s not just the professionals bringing the frights. Halloween fanatics across the Valley are transforming their properties into DIY haunted houses and larger-than-life displays, proving that home is where the horror is (at least for this month).

So, here’s a list of haunted attractions, DIY horror displays, and home-grown haunts in Phoenix for Halloween 2024.

The Darkness at Deer Valley
3302 W. Adobe Dam Road
Get ready to be welcomed by towering skeletons, including a giant Jack Skellington, and an illuminated graveyard that brings a touch of Disney-esque charm to this north Phoenix home. Swing by on weekend nights to catch special effects in action. Details: 6-10 p.m. nightly through Oct. 31. Free.

Grovers Graves
17657 N. 42nd St.
Artist Keif Martin's yard is packed with unique beasts, eerie plants, and colorful jack-o’-lanterns. This year’s additions feature ghost riders and creations crafted from recycled materials. Details: 6-9 p.m., Mondays-Thursdays; 6-10 p.m., Fridays-Sundays, through Oct. 31. Free.

Sadistik Cemetery
4645 W. State Ave., Glendale
Creepy spiders, towering skeletons, and demonic figures haunt this tombstone-filled graveyard. The haunting ambiance is enhanced by orange, green, and red lights. Details: Dusk to 8:30 p.m., Sunday-Tuesday; dusk to 10 p.m., Fridays-Saturdays. Free.

Canary Manor
18887 E. Canary Way, Queen Creek
Tawnee Spence’s classic display is packed with iconic figures like Frankenstein and Freddy Krueger, with scenes in a spooky mausoleum and eerie cemetery swamp. New this year: a pirate ship and skeletons making their escape. Details: 6:30-9:30 p.m., nightly through Oct. 31.

Eddie Shriner's Home Haunt
2427 W. Vista Ave.
Eddie Shriner’s Halloween spectacle is a true horror-lover’s dream (or nightmare!). His yard and winding backyard path are packed with hundreds of eerie figures, animatronics, and life-sized characters, from horror icons to sinister clowns sure to send shivers down your spine. Details: 6-9 p.m., Sundays-Thursdays; 6-10 p.m., Fridays-Saturdays through Oct. 31. Free.

Kipp Family's Halloween Display
1610 E. Hermosa Vista Drive, Mesa
Retired pediatrician David Kipp’s massive home dazzles with a light show in purples and oranges, glowing pumpkins, and captivating multimedia displays on giant LED screens. Details: 6-9 p.m., nightly through Oct. 31. Free.

Phoenix Dead Rising
8611 N. 30th Drive
Nick Chryst brings his yard to life—or rather, to death—by transforming it into a fog-filled, ghostly graveyard. Tombstones, a variety of skeletons, and other ominous characters await those brave enough to enter. Details: 6-10 p.m., nightly from Oct. 11 to 31.

Hallowsevolve
12905 N. 147th Drive, Surprise
Krista and John Droski’s annual Halloween haunt this year plunges into “Sea Legends of Old,” complete with ghost ships, haunting sirens, and Davy Jones’s locker. Details: Dusk to 10 p.m., Oct. 25-27 and Oct. 31. Free; cash and nonperishable donations for St. Mary’s Food Bank encouraged.

Happy Haunted Pumpkin Patch
18639 N. First Ave.
Carl Jimenez’s yard lights up with 200 jack-o’-lanterns, creating a fun yet eerie scene every night in October. This pumpkin army offers a 30-minute synchronized light show set to music, starting October 15. Details: 6:30-9:30 p.m., Oct. 1-31. Free.

Bauler Family Lights
13626 W. Hearn Road, Surprise
This family-friendly light display features glowing ghosts, spooky skulls, and other illuminated characters in sync with music, making it a treat for all ages. Details: 5:30-9 p.m., Sundays-Thursdays; 5:30-10 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays through Oct. 31. Free.

Dreams of Darkness

Kevin and Nicole Quenga's display puts a spooky twist on "Toy Story" with a 12-foot Woody, zombie Forky, Sid’s mutant toys, and Buzz Lightyear soaring through the scene. Details: Dusk to 10 p.m. nightly until Halloween.

House of Fear
13837 N. 181st Ave., Surprise
Russ Dehlinger and Blanca Real turn their property into an outdoor haunted walkthrough with themed areas and spine-tingling characters. This year, they’re adding axe-throwing and Gellyball games for a full thrill experience. Details: 6:30-10 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays; 6-9 p.m., Sundays; 5-9 p.m. on Oct. 31. Free; donations welcome.

Skeleton House AZ
23625 N. 117th Drive, Sun City
This display is anything but "bare bones"! Skeletons in cowboy hats line the light poles on 117th Avenue, leading to a western town with a saloon, hotel, and more—each populated by skeletal townsfolk. An animatronic skeleton show runs from dusk until midnight on select nights. Details: Dusk to dawn, nightly through Oct. 31, with shows on Oct. 18, 25, 26, and 31.

Scary Christmas House
4431 W. Escuda Drive, Glendale
The Spacy family brings "The Nightmare Before Christmas" to life with over 120,000 lights and handmade props from the classic film, including characters like Oogie Boogie and Sally. Details: 6-10 p.m., Sundays-Thursdays; 6-11 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays, from Oct. 25-31. Free; donations for local families in need encouraged.

Mount Mayhem
1740 E. Purdue Ave.
Running since 2009, this north Phoenix haunt is run by neighborhood teens and features classic creatures from years past, like Nosferatu, mischievous demons, and creepy clowns. Details: 7-9:30 p.m., Oct. 25-27 and Oct. 30-31. Free, with donations welcome.

Hellbilly Holler
14601 N. 40th Way
Step into Hellbilly Holler and get a taste of southern-fried horror right here in north Phoenix. This display is a surreal mix of moonshine-soaked scares, featuring swamp witches, bone collectors, and mysterious wendigos for a truly unique experience. Details: 7-9:30 p.m., Sundays-Thursdays; 7-11 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 18 to Nov. 2. Free.

The House of Haunts
8325 E. Lincoln Drive, Scottsdale
Steve Birkett and his family bring the chills with an illuminated graveyard out front and rooms filled with special effects, a laser-lit bayou, and eerie surprises. This year, they’re introducing a new room for extra thrills. Details: 6:45-10 p.m., Oct. 26-31. Admission: $5.

42nd Haunt
4226 W. Park View Lane, Glendale
A towering castle wall conceals this terrifying walkthrough where rooms feature gruesome scenes of body horror and twisted medical experiments. Known for drawing crowds on Halloween, this haunt promises an intense experience. Details: 6-10 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 18-26 and Oct. 31. Suggested donation: $5.

Rowley’s Holiday House
10458 E. Osage Ave., Mesa
David Rowley’s Halloween setup has gone viral on TikTok, and it’s no wonder why. His two-story home is transformed with a pirate ship, Prohibition-era bar, towering skeletons, and pumpkin people on the roof. The display even spills over to a neighbor’s property, complete with a witch’s hut and purple lights zig-zagging across the street. Details: Dusk to 10 p.m., nightly from Oct. 1 to Nov. 7. Free.

Haunted Graveyard
8414 E. Valley Vista Drive, Scottsdale
Known for its immersive experience, the Birkett family’s Haunted Graveyard covers their entire property. Visitors can explore a graveyard with animatronic headstones and a fire-breathing dragon, a haunted mansion maze, and creepy mine tunnels. Details: 6:30-10 p.m., nightly from Oct. 25-31. Admission: $5.

Terror Nights Haunted House
511 E. La Donna Drive, Tempe
The Stoudt family’s walk-through haunt features themed scares like "Maniac's Revenge" and the "Dining Room of the Dead," with classic characters like Michael Myers lurking around. Details: 7-10 p.m., Oct. 25, 26, and 30. Free; donations and nonperishable food items for charity are welcomed.
